Gamma Tau Sigma are the Greek letters that represent our society, from the concept of the "Golden Tassel Society." The founding members sought to bring together the graduates of LCCC in opportunities to maintain their relationships with friends, the school, and the community beyond graduation. This dream became reality on
October 12, 2001.
From this pool of founding members, five took the challenge of being officers of this new group. They were: Bob Doering, President; Robbie Fee-Thomson, Vice President; Cheryl Riffle, Secretary; Sun Jamerson, Treasurer; and Cathy Rushwin, Public Relations.
Gamma Tau Sigma of Lorain County Community College was officially in business.
On May 3, 2002 Gamma Tau Sigma held its first annual elections of officers. The membership would now be voting for nine members instead of five. Secretary, Treasurer, and Public Relations were promoted to Vice President of their specific office. The following people were elected:
President: Bob Doering
Vice President: Tom Dake
VP - Communication (formerly Secretary): Cheryl Riffle
VP - Treasury (formerly Treasurer): Jennifer Galindo
VP - History: Barb Chipgus
VP - Public Relations: Cathy Rushwin
VP - Membership: Lisa Wiant
VP - Event Coordination: Linda Doering
VP - Travel Coordination: Tim Pullen
Rejoicing could be heard as GTS's new leaders accepted their posts. To this day, our organization would not be where we are without the dedication and vision of these early leaders.
